Soil Passport can become the technology and intelligence layer connecting this ecosystem.
Are you developing technology for biomass processing, pyrolysis, biochar, bio-oil, bio-tar, biohydrogen, bioenergy, carbon removal, MRV, soil technology or agricultural technology? Join the Soil Passport Technology Partner Network.
SPX™ is Soil Passport's product and technology ecosystem — a family of biomass conversion pathways (BioChar™, BioOil™, BioTar™, BioH₂™, Power™) plus a digital carbon measurement, reporting and verification layer (Carbon™), all connected to Soil Passport™ intelligence and digital product passports.
Six: SPX BioChar™ (soil amendment & carbon removal), SPX BioOil™ (renewable fuel blendstock & chemical feedstock), SPX BioTar™ (industrial binders, sealants & adhesives), SPX BioH₂™ (clean hydrogen for industry & transport), SPX Power™ (distributed & rural electricity), and SPX Carbon™ (digital MRV infrastructure for carbon projects).
All three start from biomass, but the conversion process and output differ. SPX BioChar™ uses pyrolysis to produce a solid, carbon-rich material for soil and carbon removal. SPX BioOil™ uses fast pyrolysis to produce a liquid fuel blendstock and chemical feedstock. SPX BioTar™ uses controlled thermal conversion to produce a dense, viscous tar for industrial binders and sealants.
Yes. Several SPX™ pathways can be co-located or sequenced from the same biomass feedstock — for example, biochar production can yield syngas and bio-oil as co-products — depending on project design and technology selection.
SPX Carbon™ provides the digital measurement, reporting and verification (MRV) layer that supports carbon project development — including biochar-based carbon removal. SPX™ does not issue carbon credits itself; it works alongside independent carbon standards and registries, which handle methodology approval and credit issuance.
SPX™ products, carbon credits and biomass supply are listed on the Soil Passport™ Marketplace, connecting buyers, project developers and investors with available SPX™ outputs.
Visit the Partners page and apply through the Technology Partner Network if you develop biomass processing, pyrolysis, carbon or related technology, or as an implementation, project or investment partner for regional SPX™ deployment.
